USB-FM Transmitter Workshop
Based on the manual and work of http://www.piradio.de we want to share our fresh knowledge soldering such a USB-FM - transmitter during the /etc
08.
facilitators: Dagmar, Pam (http://www.fro.at), Ushi (http://www.servus.at)

Radio is a surprisingly simple media. A few electronic components are enough to make your own little radiostation. This small USB-FM-Transmitter turns your Computer into a relaystation and can pick up a stream from the net and send this into the UKW (Very high Frequency) Broadcast.
This sender is the first step for a media competent society. Help your neighbours to make their own radio!
Attention!
This printed circuit board is without holes. Solder all units on the top of the board. You have to cute and bend the wires. Make a drop of soldermaterial on the board before.
Take care that the distance between units and board gets not too high.
LED
-
light emitting diode (LED) have two poles (+,-)
-
+ longer wire
-
- shorter
Assembling the transistors
-
take care of the heat (dont solder too hot!)
- take care where to solder the flate site
Audio Cable
-
make stereo to mono (Simple bend red and white together)
-
bend the ground together
The rotary capacitor is responsible for finding the right frequency. To manipulate the frequency use wood or the plastic not metal tools.
Needs
We need to have at least 5 Soldering Stations (not the realy cheap ones)
To bring by participants
- Cuters
- Long nosed pliers
- Solder Iron (just in case an if it is easy to bring)
- A small Radio (not every participant has to bring)
- 10 Euros for the Kit
What to know: Putting this Transmitter to the USB Port is already illegal .
