I would like to write to you as an interface to what is happening here
in brasil. since last year we have been discussing the realization of a
carnival here. the idea behind /etc-br is to be a convergence of groups
of women working with technology around the country. a list was open,
groups were invited and soon a discussion started about the principles
that guided the encounter.

this discussion is massively important here, if you have in mind that
the organization of the brazilian /etc is not to be done by a single
collective of women but several actually, dispersed throughout the
country (that meaning that face-to-face encounters are very difficult
slowing the decision process..). I want to stress that we are only at
the beginning of this relationship, but it is a very important step, to
acknowledge each other, visualize and find connective points on our
different processes.. the brazilian net-work of women is right now being
knitted, but with caution and patience ;)

some decision are being now taken on:
autonomy - women that accept finance women that are self called
libertarian and would not accept any kind of support from financing
agencies and so on..

when and where - being self-funded we would have to find a strategic
partner to structure the workshops, that meaning a place with
electricity, computers and connection. there have been a talk with cais
do parto in olinda and espaço estilingue in belo horizonte is another
possible place.. and the date are still yet to be defined...

perhaps we should put an *on contruction* tag attached to it?

if any of you want to add on to the discussion of autonomy, perhaps
describe a bit the process from the last years of /etc it would be of
great contribution!
